さしむかい【差し向かい】

●差し向かいで[に] face to face; facing each other; vis-à-vis; tête-à-tête

・差し向かいで話す have a tête-à-tête (with sb)

・昨夜ひさしぶりに彼と差し向かいで酒を飲んだ. Last night, for the first time in a long time, he and I had a drink together, just the two of us.

●差し向かいに座る sit face to face with sb; sit facing [opposite] sb [each other] 《across a table》.
